PuTTY Port Forwarding for email configuration

First, follow these instructions to configure PuTTY. Then, bring up the PuTTY Configuration window, highlight "yip" under Saved Sessions, and click the Load button.

Click on the Tunnels category, which is under the Connection--SSH category.

Look at the Port forwarding section. Ignore the "Local ports accept connections from other hosts" checkbox. Ensure that the radio button beside Local is the one selected.

Under Add new forwarded port:, there are two text entry fields.

• For POP3, do the following:

  • In the Source port field, type in "110" without the quotes.
  • In the Destination field, type in "yip.org:110"
  Then click Add.

• For IMAP, do the following:

  • In the Source port field, type in "143" without the quotes.
  • In the Destination field, type in "yip.org:143"
  Then click Add.

• If you're not sure which protocol your email software uses, follow the steps for both POP3 and IMAP.

The Forwarded ports: text box should now show something like this:

L110 	 yip.org:110
L143	 yip.org:143

Now click on the Session category and click on the Save button.
