How to make the YIP Copier work under Windows ME

Update: There are apparently problems under Windows XP as well, calling for a bit of file editing (?).

Supposedly there is a problem with the YIP Copier installer with Windows ME, but we don't have enough information to fix it. Luckily, you can install the YIP copier manually and apparently it works. Unfortunately, the only info we have on the subject is extremely vague (we do know, however, that "gobbledygook" is involved). Anyway, here:

  1. Create a folder called "send" without the quotes in the same folder you unzipped the YIP copier to.
  2. Create a folder inside the send folder called "public_html".
  3. Use Notepad to create a file called yipusername.txt in the same folder you unzipped the YIP copier to. In yipusername.txt, you should put your yip.org username - if your email address is you@yip.org, your username is you. Make sure there are no spaces or Enters after your username by putting the cursor at the end of your username and pressing Delete a few times.

Now you should be able to stick files in the send folder and double-click on yipcopy.bat to upload them to yip.org. If you made a folder called stone inside the public_html folder and put the file moss.html inside it, you could then access it through http://www.yip.org/~you/stone/moss.html .

Return to the uploading section, or return to the Windows section.
