How can I create a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection to yip.org using Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)?

This method of connecting has three advantages over tunneling ports over ssh:

  1. It will encrypt all traffic to and from yip.org.
  2. It can be set up to connect automatically.
  3. It can be used in conjunction with tunneling ports over ssh to create a connection that is even more secure than with ssh alone.

It also has several disadvantages:

  1. The strength of the encryption is much lower if it is not used with ssh port forwarding.
  2. You must contact us to obtain an encryption key for the connection. (This may change if we install raccoon to do key exchange automatically)
  3. It is potentially more difficult to get working, as compatibility problems and firewall issues may arise which are not easily troubleshot.
  4. We haven't tested doing this yet - PPTP takes precedence due to its higher popularity, and the mail and file transfer sections need to be finished before PPTP. This is really just a placeholder page.

Expect more work in this area in mid-January.
