Letum - Broken

Letum - Broken

After 6 years of silence Letium have unleashed the droning noise and instrumental sadness. If I was to be told that they had waited this long because they were encased in a very deep and despondent state of despair and depression it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. 'Broken' is over the top depressing, and so powerfully dark that a few weeks ago, while I myself was in a negative state found it entirely unlistenable. Now, recovered, somewhat, from my overwhelming state of despair, I can allow myself a glimpse at the creation of Letium without the weight of the pointlessness of it all annihilating my will to move. The track listing alone gives an indication of the mood with titles such as 'Solititation', 'Attempt (Failure)', 'Broken', 'Betrayed', 'Staring At Nothing' and 'Tears'. But let's not confuse the issue here: it may at times be unlistenable, however this very intensity of reaction is entirely due to it's brilliance (although brilliance may not be the correct word what with its etymological connection to light, of which there is none on this album).
